Damages: Sort of Like A Family

ORIGINAL EPISODES, TUESDAYS @ 10PM ON FX

WOW! Huge revelation at the end of this episode!!! Patty had a blood spot on her shoe and this can only mean one of two things: 1) She was there during the attack on Ellen or 2) She helped remove the body and clean up the apartment. Which one is it? I'm banking on the second but it could very well end up being neither of those and something else entirely. Still, this was a huge revelation and it left me with my mouth hanging wide open as the credits began to roll. I knew Patty had something to do with the attack on Ellen, she had to have been involved. Though I didn't think she would be involved to the point that she was present at the apartment.

Anyway, we learned a lot about some of the other mysteries this week as well. A big deal has been made about Gregory Malina's connection to Frobisher and the fact that he sold 1000 shares of Frobisher's stock the same day as him. Last night we found out that Gregory had received the stock from Ray and Ray was also the one who tipped him off to sell it. Now we know for sure where he got the stock from and we are 100% sure that Frobisher knew what was going on and intended to defraud everyone. Before this it was still speculation since we didn't have any admissions or direct evidence to link Frobisher to any intent. But with Ray, his closest confidant, tipping off Gregory we know that everyone in Frobisher's camp knew what was going on and when it was going to happen.

Throughout the rest of the episode pieces started to come together as we're approaching the night of the murders. This was by far one of the best episodes of the season and is setting us up for an amazing season finale. I have nothing bad to say about this show. The writing is top notch and the acting just as good. The big names and the new faces are both showing the world that this is one of the best shows on cable.

David's dream in the beginning of the episode really creeped me out. I think I had nightmares about Glenn Close after that one. I wonder why he had such a random dream like that except maybe he believes Patty is going to screw him and Ellen over. Later in the episode, Patty meets with Ray and Gregory's murder comes up. She really shouldn't be judging him for being involved. Granted its a horrible thing he did but Patty is no better. Just because she hasn't committed a human murder yet doesn't make her actions above reproach. She is the last person that should be judging anyone. Case in point, her treatment of Ellen. She uses her, treats her like a prize employee, and then as soon as Gregory is out of play tosses her aside like a rotten piece of meat. Except, not only has Ellen never done anything wrong, but quite to the contrary she has been an extraordinary attorney. She even found the new witness who used to work for Mr. Moore at the SEC. Patty is just an evil person and I have a feeling that one day it's going to catch up to her when she least expects it.

I have to say that Rose Byrne (Ellen) is doing a great job alternating between the past-Ellen and present-Ellen. In the present, she is very dark; nothing like she was before everything starting going down hill with Patty and the case. It's great to see a different side to Ellen's character and Rose has been incredible. I'm actually enjoying the dark-side of Ellen. She very assertive and seductive. It's a very interesting change to watch.

The big question of the night though is who is tailing Ellen? It could be any number of people but my money is on Uncle Pete. Patty seems to be stepping up her tactics and I wouldn't put it past her to have Ellen tailed so she can control her even more. Whoever it is probably has a big role to play in the events to come. The other big question, who was the service man that came up stairs? Apparently there's a service elevator and that's probably how the attacker got to Patty's apartment but that doorman seemed very odd. Maybe he's involved somehow.

Yet again another amazing episode of "Damages." I absolutely can't wait for next week. Leave some comments and tell me what you think is going on.

I love the show too. I think there may be some angle with Moore and Fiske being gay and having a lot to cover up. Fiske has a wife. The partners coming in and giving Fiske the evil eye and it all evolves around Gregory Malina and his "letting Fiske believe there was a chance for more". Who knows how many factors play into this?

I believe the doorman who interrupted Tom in Patty's apartment was the same guy who was following Katie Connor down the street in an earlier episode (she yelled at him, accusing him of killing her dog). It leads me to believe that he is working for Patty and may have been involved in the attempted murder of Ellen. I can't wait to find what dirt on Patty that Ellen stumbles upon that is so bad that Patty would have no choice but to try to kill her. And I can't help but think Patty's son must have a place in this story, why else would they introduce him as a character?

Wasn't it weird when Gregory ran to Ray's door and touched his hand so sensitively? How could they plant a G-bomb like that and not tie it in. It probably has to do with it. I wouldn't be surprised though if Uncle Pete or the doorman accidently killed Patty's son or some other backfire event occured. It also crossed my mind that Frobisher might actually be innocent- (or we'll never know) that Ray might have engineered something and is less a bystander than is presented. Why else would he dream that his teeth are falling out? I'm most looking forward to Gregory Malina's video emerging. We only saw the beginning of what he said. I have a feeling there is more than we already know. !! The big mystery for me is the "have we gone to far" thing.

Good call with the doorman being the guy who chased Katie. I knew I saw him before.

You're also right that the "gone to far" statement is very important and probably is the reason for everything that happened. I can't wait to find out what all this is!

(Also posted on "Damages" FX community site:)
With new and unpredictable revelations coming each week, any and all speculation on what’s going on must be considered worthless.
But that’s never stopped me before and it won’t now!!
If we assume the blood-on-shoe clue signals Patty was involved in the murder attempt or clean-up at her apartment, does that mean we let Frobisher and his crew off the hook in the show’s centerpiece murder mystery?
As I’ve posted before on the “Damages” site, it bothers me a lot that we would have months of detailed intrigue over the Frobisher stock sale and SEC agent Moore’s murderous fears over public exposure, only to find the climatic violence had nothing to do with it — that it only somehow produced a situation with Patty and Ellen that turned violent.
Granted, it would make sense that Patty would come upon the dead body in her apartment — tipped off by the doorman — and clean it up with him or someone else — if the newly deceased was her son or husband. That also would explain her emotional breakdown on the beach and her heading out of state (for a secret burial of her loved one?)
But where’s the Frobisher connection? And what dark secrets does Ellen know about Patty that would explain the violence? What did they cook up together (“Did we go too far?”) the night before the incidents? Did it involve the SEC investigator that Ellen uncovered?
If there is no Frobisher connection, is the theme going to be that Patty and Frobisher are simply two sides of the same coin — both capable of dastardly means in order to achieve their desired ends?
And how about the killing of David — was it just because he answered the door and recognized the individual who came to slay Ellen, thinking that a partner was taking care of Patty across town?
All worthless speculation — but fun.
And who the heck is John Petroni?
P.S. I don't think the doorman is the Katie chaser.

It's not that Frobisher may have nothing to do with it and end up just being a side story. He could very well have something to do with it but who knows. He could also have nothing to do with it and something else entirely could take place involving him and the case.

Frobisher is an important part but if there is blood on Patty's shoe how could Frobisher be involved in that? The two of them would never work together. The whole "I wonder if we went to far" comment made by Ellen to Patty is what this is all about I think. But I'm sure we won't know what that is for a little while longer.

Let's not forget that the blood on Patty's shoe could have come from other sources: accidently coming upon both the slayings at her apartment and Ellen's; smashing objects against the wall at her beach house.

Now that Frobisher is getting divorced he could really screw his ex-wife over by giving all his money to settle the case. I think Patty is a crooked as a pretzel and was damn happy to see Ellen tell her that she had enough of her bullshit. I could see either Patty going to jail or retiring from law to end the series as Ellen goes back to the law firm,

love the show.. has to be one of the best dramas I've seen in quite sometime..

Greg was a player to both sides-Ray was just money to him, but
I think he ended up caring about Katy though.

As for the son.. maternal Patty is not.. and where's the husband Phil? He's awfully busy and gone alot--of course we don't really see Patty at home much.

I didn't think the doorman was the chaser either.. I think he's just that, her doorman that is taken care of very well and on the watch for Patty. Money buys lots of loyalty at times.

and yes, what will Gregorys video say?
