Heroes: Fight or Flight

ORIGINAL EPISODES, MONDAYS @ 9PM ON NBC

In my opinion this was a decent episode but not one of "Heroes" best. We had a lot of the usual suspicion and mysterious activity. The thing that made this episode fun though was the emergence of two new Heroes - Kristen Bell as Ellie, who has the power to eject electricity from her body; and Monica, who has the power to mimic muscle movements that she sees. Personally, I like Monica's power better than Ellie's. While Ellie has a cool power and all, Monica can do all sorts of really cool new things such as the tomato flowers, the ninja moves, and pretty much anything else that she watches first. I am a bit skeptical on how Micah figured out Monica's power so fast. True, he's a genius but how could he know what was going on after only witnessing her surprising piano playing? I think the writer's dropped the ball on that one.

Elsewhere, it was a big night for Matt and Nathan. They went to see Matt's father together and it appeared to be a dead end when he convinced them he was a good guy just trying to protect himself from the guy whose out to kill everyone in the picture. Unfortunately for them Matt's father is actually the guy they were after but they weren't able to figure it out until it was too late. Somehow his father can not only read minds like Matt but his abilities have matured and he can place people into prisons in their mind which it appears can result in their deaths. Thankfully Matt was able to get him and Nathan out of their heads and back to reality. If he hadn't been able to control it they may have ended up killing each other. I wonder if Matt will be able to develop his abilities into the same as his fathers and if so, how long until he does? It could be a huge tool in their fight if he could do that. I wonder what exactly his father's end goal is though? He didn't give much, if anything, away when they spoke with him and he appears to care about no one, not even his own son. I have to believe he isn't working alone and if that's true then, who else is involved in his plans? This is very important and I'm looking forward to finding out more.

Outside these characters, the only one we really need to discuss from last night's episode is Peter. He got much closer to figuring out his past and more of his abilities are starting to come out. While at Caitlin's apartment he channelled Isaac's power and painted himself and Caitlin on a street corner in what appeared to be Montreal; the very same city to which he found an open plane ticket in his personal belongings. What exactly is in Montreal is a huge mystery but we can't forget that we're still also trying to find out how Peter survived and ended up in the shipping container? Also, why is Ellie looking for him and how did she and her father (whoever he is) know he was alive? Tonight's episode certainly set us up for some very interesting questions to be answered soon.

On a side note I should mention Nikki and Hiro. Nikki turned herself in to The Company because she's given up on trying to control her powers. She can't deal anymore and she wants them to fix her any way they can. I have to imagine this isn't going to work out and some way or another she'll end up keeping them and eventually controlling them. As for Hiro, he's still in Feudal Japan but the end to his narrative he left Ando in the sword was too badly damaged to read and could hold the key to Hiro's survival. I'm sure he survived but maybe he got hurt very badly and can't come back for now? Who knows, it really could be just about anything. As for Suresh, he apparently is supposed to bring Monica in to the company. Let's hope he doesn't and figures out she's watching Micah before it's too late. Until next week folks, enjoy the review!

I think Elies father is Parkmans dad also. Or at least he seems to be connected to the company - she is hunting down those with powers to contain them as well. I think
